Aims This study aims to describe the role of teachers in enhancing English reading literacy among students with special needs through the use of reading materials and worksheets.
Method This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students with special needs, and document analysis related to the teaching and learning process at SLB Negeri 1 Buleleng. The data were analyzed using three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.
Findings The findings indicate that teachers play significant roles as facilitators, guides, mentors, and motivators in English literacy activities. The use of literacy books and worksheets helps students recognize English vocabulary, understand simple words, associate words with pictures and objects in their surroundings, and develop foundational reading and writing skills. In practice, teachers adapt learning activities to each student's individual abilities by providing modeling, repeated practice, visual media, and individualized support.
