Presentation

Does the manuscript present a cohesive and logically structured discussion? Are the community problems, proposed interventions, implementation processes, and outcomes clearly connected? Does the manuscript demonstrate a meaningful contribution to community development or empowerment?

Writing

Does the title accurately characterize the manuscript? Is the writing concise, precise, academically appropriate, and easy to follow? Are the terminology and explanations consistent throughout the manuscript?

Length

Which parts of the manuscript should be expanded, removed, condensed, summarized, or combined to improve clarity, coherence, and the presentation of the community service contribution?

Title

Is the title concise, informative, and representative of the community service activities or applied research presented? Does it clearly reflect the main intervention, target community, or intended contribution while avoiding unnecessary abbreviations and overly broad terminology?

Abstract

Does the abstract include: (1) the background and objectives of the community service program; (2) the target community or beneficiaries; (3) the implementation methods or intervention approaches; (4) the principal outcomes or measurable achievements; and (5) the conclusions and practical implications?

Introduction

Does the introduction clearly describe:

  • The background and significance of the community problem being addressed;
  • The characteristics, needs, and challenges of the target community or partner institution;
  • Relevant previous community service activities, applied research, or theoretical foundations supporting the proposed intervention;
  • The gap between existing conditions and the desired improvements or outcomes;
  • The novelty, practical contribution, or added value of the proposed community service program;
  • The intervention approach or solution proposed to address the identified problems; and
  • The objectives and expected benefits of the program for the target community.

Method

  • Is the community service approach or applied research design appropriate for addressing the identified community problems?
  • Are the implementation location, target community, partner institutions, participants, and relevant stakeholder characteristics clearly described?
  • Is the process of identifying community needs or conducting the preliminary needs assessment adequately explained?
  • Are the stages of program implementation systematically described, including preparation, coordination, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation where applicable?
  • Are the methods used, such as training, workshops, mentoring, counseling, technology transfer, participatory approaches, or community empowerment activities, clearly explained and justified?
  • Are the materials, instruments, technologies, or resources used during implementation sufficiently described?
  • Are the roles and participation of community partners, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders clearly identified?
  • Are the methods for evaluating program outcomes, participant engagement, knowledge improvement, skill development, or community benefits adequately explained?
  • For technology-based programs, are the technical specifications, implementation procedures, usability considerations, and evaluation methods appropriately reported?
  • Are ethical considerations, community consent, and participant protection appropriately addressed where applicable?
  • Is the methodology sufficiently transparent to allow critical evaluation and possible replication or adaptation in other community settings?

Results and Discussion

  • Are the implementation results presented systematically using appropriate descriptions, tables, figures, photographs, or other relevant documentation?
  • Do the reported outcomes directly correspond to the objectives and community problems identified in the Introduction?
  • Are the community service activities and their implementation outcomes clearly distinguished from the intended or expected outcomes?
  • Does the manuscript provide evidence of program achievements, such as improvements in participants' knowledge, skills, attitudes, productivity, technological capabilities, or community participation where relevant?
  • Are the evaluation findings supported by appropriate quantitative or qualitative evidence, such as pre-test and post-test results, observations, interviews, surveys, participant feedback, or documented outputs?
  • Are the findings critically discussed in relation to previous community service programs, relevant applied research, or established theoretical perspectives?
  • Does the discussion explain the practical significance of the outcomes for the target community or partner institutions rather than merely describing the activities conducted?
  • Are community participation, stakeholder collaboration, and the beneficiaries' responses adequately discussed?
  • Does the manuscript explain the program's contribution to community empowerment, capacity building, problem-solving, or sustainable development?
  • Are the challenges, implementation constraints, methodological limitations, and lessons learned clearly acknowledged?
  • Are the sustainability, scalability, or potential replication of the program discussed where appropriate?
  • Does the manuscript identify opportunities for follow-up activities, program improvement, or future community-based research?

Conclusion

Does the conclusion:

  • Directly address the objectives of the community service program;
  • Summarize the principal outcomes and achievements without merely repeating the Results and Discussion section;
  • Clearly explain the benefits and practical contributions of the program to the target community or partner institutions;
  • Provide recommendations for program improvement, sustainability, or future community service initiatives where appropriate; and
  • Appear as coherent paragraphs rather than bullet points or numbering?
